From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
